When talking with teams I support, I have found this to be a common question. Many of our students benefit from being exposed to actions before we can expect them to "request a new action". I created a list of activities / actions based on developmental milestones and organized them into the first 4 levels of the Communication Matrix. By creating opportunities to experience these activities / actions, we can observe the student's reactions and their desire to continue the action. An action may need to be offered several times before we can assess the student's enjoyment or dislike. Pairing the activity / action with a symbol will promote the student requesting the action in the future.
