By reading the differences between 2D concrete symbols and 2D abstract symbols, now I am all confused about the differences between 3D concrete symbols and 3D abstract symbols. Could anyone explain the differences between these four types of symbols, please? 2D Concrete symbols, 3D concrete symbols, 2D abstract symbols and 3D abstract symbols.

“Concrete" symbols that physically resemble what they represent, are used to communicate. Concrete symbols look like, feel like, move like, or sound like what they represent.

Concrete symbols include pictures, this is your 2D, photo or line drawing (when it visually looks like what it represents)

objects (such as a shoelace to represent "shoe"), This is your Object sybol

"iconic" gestures (such as patting a chair to say "sit down"), This is your pantomime

and sounds (such as making a buzzing sound to mean “bee”). This is your mimic

Most individuals skip this stage and go directly to Level VI. For some individuals concrete symbols may be the only type of symbol that makes sense to them; for others they may serve as a bridge to using abstract symbols.

Typically developing children use concrete symbols in conjunction with gestures and words, generally between 12 and 24 months of age, but not as a separate stage.

Abstract 2D symbols to not visually look like what they represent. These include print, blisssymbols, photos or line drawings representing abstract concepts, including the popular board maker symbols for MORE (picture of ASL), the YES flower, some thought and feeling concepts...

I;m always conflicted about that last part. Please chime in

Any photo or line drawing would qualify.

But now I wonder, what about a 2D concrete symbol? Is the such a thing? How about an example of that if there is

A concrete symbol may include pictures, photos or line drawings which look like what it represents, eg picture of chair ou a tree.
