I am starting an Aug Com group for transition aged students (18-22 years) who are non-verbal and just being introduced to Touch Chat, the communication app. We are going to start with learning basic pathways for functional communication. I am wondering if anyone can share some ideas for engagement. In an NSSEO (Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization in Illinois) workshop, a fun idea that was shared was playing a 'Guess The Word' Game. One student would describe a word (e.g., /cloud/ = white, outside, up) and the other students are supposed to try and guess it. Please share any fun ideas you may have! Thank you!

Age appropriate games are a great way to get teens and young adults communicating with one another. Onsite jobs, welcoming parents to evening events, community outings that you go on often. I'm attaching a document that staff, including teachers, job coaches and SLPs have created over time.
