Hi - sorry for the delay in responses. For some reason - the Please Help message is not getting out to those of us on the list... We'll have them check in to that. I see that 12 people have already viewed your message, but sadly, no one has replied... some people are hesitant to respond, but we really encourage people to just make suggestions. There are no paid experts here.

A couple of ideas and places to look here on the Forum.

1) Click on the Forum and go to the Filter, that way you can just find the posts that are about Level1- Preintentional. If you don't know yet how to use the Filter, In the Blue Box where it says FORUM, there is a triangle, just click on that triangle and it will open up a filter. One of the Filters is to filter based upon the Matrix. It will open up an image of the Matrix diagram and then you can click on any level, or any communication function to just sort through all the posts..

2) one of the options for assistance with writing goals is the Custom Report - this is one place where there is a charge $6 per report. You can first see an example report and see short videos on the process and what you have to do by clicking on the ASSESSMENT TAB, CUSTOM REPORT, then watch the videos.

3) There is a "companion site" to the Communication Matrix. It is www.designtolearn.com . If you go to http://designtolearn.com/Page/OurApproach You'll get some basics behind all the additional assessments that have been developed, especially for children who have sensory impairments, often referred to as children with CCN: Complex Communication Needs.

4) at the Design To Learn site, there is a Free video and download of an IEP Development Guide. I'll try to attach it to my reply. Sometimes the Reply attachments don't always work, so here is the link http://designtolearn.com/IEP.pdf

5) Also at Design To Learn is a booklet that you can purchase as a download or have it mailed to you, called First Things First. I've used this extensively with my SLPs and my School Teams who have children who come out on the matrix as Levels 1, 2, and 3. http://designtolearn.com/Store

I've done some free one hour webinars on Ablenet University showing the process of using the Matrix and then developing goals using the First Things First approach. To get to Ablenet University, go to Ablent University's Recorded Webinars

https://www.ablenetinc.com/resources/recorded_webinars/

You can either type in my last name: Fonner in the Search or type in the name of the webinars (It's a series of 3 webinars) AAC in the Classroom for Students with Significant Disabilities

hopefully this information will be helpful.
