Hello! First time user. I'm looking for advice on scoring skills that are only observed in imitation. My student will imitate 1-2 words for most purposes when given a model, but it's not clear that she understands the meaning of the words she's using. Would I still score these areas as 'emerging' since she is able to do it when prompted?

Yes, we would score an imitative response as Emerging. That way, even if the student doesn't really understand the meaning of the word yet, it calls attention to the prospect that this word might be shaped into a meaningful (and Mastered) form of communication.

She doesn't come to me to let me know what she wants, but it's easy for me to figure out, because she tries to do things for herself. She knows what she wants, and her behavior shows me what she wants. If she runs out of something to eat, she will just try to get more, rather than trying to get me to give her more.
