I basically consider all board-maker and symbol stix icons to be basically abstract. Some more than others- since the best they can be is an iconic line drawing. The concrete symbol (level V) in my view will be very closely related to what it represents so as not to easily be mistaken... usually limited to photos or 3-dimensions... but please consider, that photos and 3 dimensional symbols can be abstract to a person with CVI. The 3-dimensional symbol can be unrelated, physically to what it represents (such as braille and a randomly assigned texture to represent something, level VI.) If a 3-dimensional representation is actually a "part of something" (like the bike handle or a seat belt handle that matches exactly what it represents)- I think these are more concrete. I really hope that this makes sense. Basically concrete representations will be exactly part or all of what it stands for; abstract can be 2 or 3 dimensional, and am more symbolic, less iconic.
